A homemade version of the classic green bean casserole, made with fresh ingredients and a creamy mushroom sauce.
Ingredients

- 1pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 cupmushrooms, sliced
- 1medium onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoonsbutter
- 2 tablespoonsall-purpose flour
- 1 cupvegetable broth
- 1 cupheavy cream
- 1 teaspoongarlic powder
- 1 teaspoonsoy sauce
- 1 cupFrench fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a pot, boil the green beans for about 5 minutes, then drain.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions and mushrooms until soft.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Add vegetable broth, cream, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Cook until thickened.
- Mix in the green beans and half of the French fried onions.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with remaining French fried onions.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Use fresh green beans for the best flavor.
You can substitute heavy cream with a non-dairy alternative if needed.
